The following text is replicated from the very old manuscripts of the Government of Maldives News, “Sarukaaruge Khabaru, No: 46, 1 Shawwal 1366”. This date corresponds to 7 August 1947.
The debt from the public are to the main government trading center “Bodu Store”. People would have taken goods on credit and were not able to pay back, hence the government started a process for well wishers to donate to releive this debt.
